How to Find Sunglasses to Suit Your Face

With the changing seasons, come changing trends among sunglasses. While you want to remain stylish and fashionable, you also want to make sure to choose appropriate ones for the shape of your face. Unlike other accessories, sunglasses are situated front and center on your face and therefore draws immediate attention to that area. People often make the mistake of buying any pairs of sunglasses that they happen to like aesthetically without considering the fact that it may not fit them or complement their features.

The first step you must take before you want to go out and buy a pair of sunglasses that flatters you, is to find out exactly what kind of shape your face is. Decide whether your face is square, oval, or triangular; long and narrow or small and round. The size of the potential sunglasses' frame should ideally be in scale with the shape and size of your face.

Square: This shape has a jaw-heavy look and therefore needs to have a slightly curved frame to contrast the face. Also, the sunglasses need to sit high enough on the bridge of the nose in order to offset the wide jaw-line. Another alternative one can go for is the narrow fame, which has more width than depth and that widens the eye area to draw attention away from the jaw.

Oval: This face shape is the most versatile because nearly all kinds of sunglasses will look good on this kind of outline. If you have an oval-shaped face, take advantage of small or oversize shaped sunglasses!

Triangular: A person with a triangular shaped face tends to have a naturally broader forehead and narrow chin. It's advised that you contrast your shape by wearing thin-rimmed frames which don't sit high on your face and therefore, won't create an unbalanced composition.

Round: People who have round faces need sunglasses with a square or rectangle frame and lens to constrast the roundness of your face and lengthen the whole visage. You can also make your face appear thinner in general when you choose sunglasses with a clear bridge over the nose because it widens the eyes.

Think twice before you go out and purchase those hot aviator sunglasses or gargantuan Nicole Richie-esque sunnies. If you care to flatter your face shape, determine that you are able to wear them in the first place.
